The project by M-Three Satcom in collaboration with Eutelsat is a cutting edge solution for journalists work

Working live, via satellite, with user friendly and cost saving equipment, with no need of being physically at the television studio. A dream for many journalists that became true for the Italian journalist of Sky Sport 24, Mario Sconcerti, during the Confederation Cup. The project was realized thanks to the interest of Massimo Bertolotti Sky Italy head of innovation and engineering for innovation and experimentation.
Core of the project is the flexibility and innovation of Eutesat NewsSpotter service, a system that requires handy facilities and that is employed by M-Three Satcom in a configuration based on VidyoCast technology, which allows the latency reduction and high video quality.

The creation and the configuration of a new studio concept simply based on: antenna, modem, camera and lights. No matter where the journalist is, at the time of the scheduled interview he can easily connect to the production centre through a lightweight set of equipment which simulate a real studio facility, fully equipped with brand new devices extremely handy and user friendly. Using remote cameras managed by the director in Sky studios, the journalist just has to start and stop the system and everything runs automatically. As he turns on the facility, he will immediately receive the audio/video feedback, whereas the director, from Sky central studio, manages in remote mode the motorized cameras located in the journalist studio.

M-Three Satcom CEO Carlo Morelli says “the extremely adaptability of technologies, its simplicity in the setting up and use for the journalists, together with the remote control and assistance of M-Three MCR and Sky direction, make that solution very interesting for any kind of need in events production and for the creation of temporary studios from any location, drastically reducing the transmission costs”.

“NewsSpotter”, up to Renato Farina, CEO of Eutelsat Italy, “is fueling a revolutionary process that involves the work of journalists and any other professional in the audiovisual content production. Through the use of a lightweight and inexpensive instrumentation the benefits also affect the broadcasters with the ability to greatly increase the opportunities for live coverage, making schedules more and more attractive for the audience. "

TECHNICAL NOTE
The configuration set up by M-Three, in partnership with Sky Italy, combines the NewsSpotter and VidyoCast technology. VidyoCast is a contribution system based on routers and the latest generation of broadcast encoders that allow the maximum latency reduction on any IP network video quality with a very high. The contents are broadcasted in scalable video encoding: thanks to the feedback information the encoding is adjusted in real time, and is adapted to bandwidth changes guaranteeing an interruption free service . All contributions are managed by video routers and video servers at the M-Three hub, from here they are distributed among the contributors and recipients according to the rules defined in real time or predetermined by the MCR according to requirements. A meshed configuration, where the core is M-Three MCR acting as a " traffic director " and where the connections are optimized in real time between all connected actors.
